Cambridge Technicals: Specialist pathways

For some Cambridge Technicals, there are specialist endorsements that appear on candidates’ certificates. If available, pathways are mandatory or optional depending on the qualification.

  • For Cambridge Technicals (2016), pathways will either be mandatory or not available. Where available you must follow one pathway. For Level 2 Engineering, Level 2 Health and Social Care, Level 2 IT, Level 2 Sport and Level 3 Engineering only, you may also select a second pathway (if applicable).
  • For Cambridge Technicals (2012), pathways will either be optional or not available. 

Which units are required for each pathway can be found in the Cambridge Technicals entry codes booklet.

The qualification entry you make doesn’t tell us which pathway has been selected. This means any issues with a student’s combination of units can’t be highlighted in the Progress Tracker. For qualifications with pathways, you need to check students have a valid combination of units

For 2016 qualifications with pathways, students must follow a specialist pathway so it’s essential you check the combination of units is valid:
