You are permitted to make amendments to any of the Model Assignment briefs published on the OCR website. You can even create your own Model Assignment briefs. The guidance on making changes is published in the ‘Guidance for tutors’ section of each Model Assignment must be followed. You are permitted to change the scenario around which the assignment is set, and to change the tasks so that they are in the context of the new scenario. You are also permitted to change the forms of evidence required from candidates unless they are expressly stated. You must ensure that the modified assignment provides sufficient scope so that all the grading criteria can be accessed by candidates.
Further guidance is also provided in Section 8 of the Certificate and Diploma Qualification Handbooks ‘Designing your own assignments for internally assessed units’.
There is no requirement to have your modified Model Assignment checked by OCR prior to issuing it to your candidates. If you are, however, unsure of the modifications made then you can ask OCR to check it by emailing the Subject Advisors team at design.technology@ocr.org.uk
