Leaners who have achieved or are expecting to achieve GCSE (9-1) mathematics may wish to study our Free Standing Maths Qualifications Additional Mathematics 6993.
Additional Mathematics 6993 is a Level 3 FSMQ, examined by a 2-hour paper. It is designed to:
- introduce students to the power and elegance of advanced mathematics
- allow students to experience the directions in which the subject is developed post-GCSE
- develop confidence in using mathematical skills in other areas of study.
Post-16 learners not retaking the GCSE may wish to consider one of our Core Maths Level 3 Certificates, Core Maths A (MEI) H868 or Core Maths B (MEI) H869. These qualifications give learners the mathematical skills to tackle problems in a variety of authentic situations, enabling them to strengthen the mathematical knowledge and skills they have learnt at GCSE so that they can apply them to the problems they will encounter in further study, life and employment.
Post-16 learners may also take our AS and A Levels in mathematics and further mathematics. OCR offers two suites of these qualifications, one developed by OCR and one developed in partnership by OCR and MEI. These qualifications are changing for first teaching from September 2017, please see ocr.org.uk/alevelmaths for details of the changes and the new qualifications.
