Towards the end of the specifications, which are available on Teach Cambridge, there are guidelines regarding the use of technology.
The requirement for an element of live control is an Ofqual stipulation and there must be an element of this at the time the performance is being assessed.
This could mean the student is playing a midi instrument and inputting at the same time, or could mean the tracks they have previously recorded are being manipulated at the same time in order to realise the performance – starting and stopping the tracks in time for example.
The most important thing is that the student controls the software, whatever it may be, in order to make the performance ‘happen’.
