Requests for exemplar material are one of the most common year round requirements. Due to the nature of the reformed Design and Technology qualifications, having such a change from previous legacy qualifications, initially exemplifying the NEA was quite limited. Now that we have been through live assessment we will be updating our professional training material and resources to offer more up-to-date and reflective candidate exemplars.
Our aim with using exemplars to support our centres is to ensure teachers are able to accurately assess candidates’ work through their interpretations of the Marking Criteria, rather than delivering whole project exemplars that have, in the past, been used by students to template delivery methods. The best exemplars for this purpose are accurately marked, or moderated candidate work from your own centres' entries.
Where centres are moving over to us for the first time they will have access to our resources through the website and are recommended to attend CPD in order to ensure they are comfortable with their ability to mark accurately against the Marking Criteria. Once CPD have run, the materials are available either through the qualification page, or by contacting the Subject Advisors at design.technology@ocr.org.uk to request anything held from publication on the website due to copyright issues. We also strongly recommend and support local network events, through which centres are able to share good practice with other colleagues.
Other sources for exemplars:
- Main NEA guidance - Security on Teach Cambridge.
- Internal Marking Guidance on Teach Cambridge.
- Chapter 14 of the Hodder Education endorsed textbook
- Every September there will be a candidate exemplar resource that will expand on the Examiners report using candidate responses from the most recent live series these will sit under the ‘Assessment’ tab under ‘Candidate Exemplars’
