The reform criteria stated that technology is supposed to “permeate” the teaching and learning. This should mean the use of technology such as graphing software, computer algebra software (CAS), dynamic geometry software and spreadsheets in the classroom *when appropriate*. We have included some examples of teaching and learning tasks in the specifications to suggest some of the sorts of activities that you might carry out. However, this is all about doing what is appropriate for your students, your access to technology and your own expertise; there is no requirement for a particular number of teaching hours or for any particular technology. A lot can be done with simply a single PC and a projector, or using students’ mobile phones with an app such as Desmos.

There is an expectation that students have used technology during their studies though this will not be assessed directly. In spec B some questions may contain spreadsheet output which students will need to interpret.
