All 3 units are internally assessed by the centre:
Reading tasks – set by Cambridge OCR (available on Teach Cambridge)
- 40% of total marks
- 40 marks
Learners respond to two Reading tasks, one non-fiction and one literary, taken from the bank of Cambridge OCR set tasks which remains live for the lifetime of the specification and can be accessed via Teach Cambridge.
Writing tasks
- 40% of total marks
- 40 marks
Learners respond to two Writing tasks, one informative and one imaginative. Both tasks are set by centres.
The Specimen Assessment Materials on the qualification page contain guidance for setting the Writing assessment and examples of informative and imaginative writing tasks.
Spoken Language
- 20% of total marks
- 20 marks
Learners participate in one Spoken language task, either a discussion or a role play. The task is set by
centres.
There is one Spoken language task: Discussion or Role play.
