The standard deviation calculation in the Sample Assessment Materials (A Level geography) does include the formula in the resource booklet. In the specification within section 4.4 standard deviation is not listed as a 'such as' and so therefore it is a listed quantitative skill, like mean, median, mode, range and Interquartile Range. Students are required to know the Interquartile Range formula for their GCSE Maths exam and so we will not provide the formula for this calculation in AS and A Level Geography.
