The reference to that skill simply means that students should be able to understand, interpret, analyse and evaluate the economic meaning and relevance of data, be it current or historical.

This is nothing to worry about as this would be done naturally when bringing in examples to illustrate topics such as inflation, unemployment rate, GDP etc.
