There is no equivalent of A Level practical monitoring for GCSE. The students need to keep contemporaneous records of what they have done and learnt from their practical activities.
The declaration signed each year by Head of Centre states:
“Whilst undertaking the practical activities, all candidates have written and retained a record of their work, knowledge, skills and understanding which they have derived from those practical activities.”
The teacher needs to have evidence that they are delivering the practical work as described in the specification. This could be within teacher planning or you could use our tracker located on Teach Cambridge (under Teaching> Practical Activity Groups (PAGS)) or your own version. This could be for an Ofsted inspection or for the senior leadership team to enable them to sign the Practical Science Statement.
