Cambridge OCR does not have required practicals, but do have a list of required apparatus and techniques in the specifications of each science GCSE.
We also have packs of resources on Teach Cambridge, with suggested practicals for each PAG, with teacher and technician notes, and student extension questions. These resources are found on Teach Cambridge under Teaching> Teaching Delivery> Practical Activity Groups (PAGs)
Our enhanced Purposeful Practicals resource for Gateway Sciences (and applicable to the Twenty First Century suite) provides enhanced resources and a suggested route to meeting the requirements.
Within the specification content there are also a number of practical techniques and apparatus that students should be familiar with but do not need to perform in the classroom.
Each year Heads of Centres must complete a declaration that states for GCSE Sciences:
- Reasonable steps have been taken to ensure that the practical activities as set out in Cambridge OCR's GCSE Science Specifications have been completed by each candidate.
- Whilst undertaking the practical activities, all candidates have written and retained a record of their work, knowledge, skills and understanding which they have derived from those practical activities.
