Certification (or sometimes known as ‘cashing-in’) brings together the units the student has completed so we can issue an overall qualification result. You need to tell us at the end of the student’s course, in their final series, that you want an overall result to be issued.
When must our students on legacy Cambridge Nationals certificate?
The final full series for legacy Cambridge Nationals is June 2023. All your remaining students on a legacy course must be certificated in the June 2023 series.
For your Year 11 students to receive performance points in 2023 for the legacy qualifications, you must certificate in the June 2023 series (if you have not already certificated in a previous series).
How do we request certification for our legacy students in June 2023?
Your exams officer does this by entering the certification entry code (Jxxx) in the June 23 series at the same time as any unit entries (Rxxx) for the series.
When do we have to make the June 2023 certification entry for our legacy students?
Make your certification entries at the same time as any unit entries for June 2023 to make sure you get results when you expect them on results day. There are no fees for certification entries.
The entry deadline for the June 2023 series is 21 February 2023.
Doing this by 21 February lets us know your students are completing the course this year. This is very important as it is the final full series.
What if some of my legacy students want to resit the exam in January 2024?
A resit opportunity is available for examined units only in January 2024. If your students resit an exam in January 2024, you can certificate again in the January 2024 series.
You must certificate in June 2023, even if you are planning to take the exam again and certificate in January 2024.
When would we enter the certification entry on the current (from September 2022) qualifications?
This is done at the end of the course, in the final series. The first opportunity to certificate for the new qualifications is the January 2024 series.
