General Frequently asked questions (FAQs)
Do the units need to be done in a particular order?
- R068 must be done before R069 as students will need to base R069 on the business proposal they have developed from the R068 assignment they have completed
- R067 (Enterprise and marketing concepts) content can be taught at any time either as a whole unit or taught in ‘chunks’ alongside R068 and R069. All centre-assessed units (R068 and R069) must be complete and submitted either before or in the same series as the final exam for R067 is taken, due to the terminal assessment requirement.
What is the terminal assessment requirement?
This requirement means that you have to submit all centre-assessed units either before or in the same series as the final exam is taken.
If you choose to enter your students for the R067 exam in an earlier series, before they have completed and submitted both R068 and R069, it will be classed as a practice attempt and will need to be taken again at the same time, or after the final submission for R068/R069.
When can Students be given the live set assignment?
The live assignment for R068 will be released 1 June each year on our secure website for teachers, 'Teach Cambridge' for teaching the following September. They can be given to students on or after 1 June.
The live assignment for R069 will not be replaced each year. We will update the dates on the front cover each year on 1 June but the content will not change. The assignment is available on our secure website for teachers 'Teach Cambridge'
Can the live assignments be changed in any way?
The assignments cannot be altered in any way.
Can the assignments be completed in one year and entered in another eg completed in year 10 but not entered until year 11?
- For R068, the assignment is live for a year. It must be entered for a series in which it is live. If the assignment is completed in year 10, it must be submitted in year 10, either in the January or June series. Students can resubmit on the same assignment in the year that it is live e.g. January or June of Year 10. If re-entering the following year, e.g. January of Year 11 this would be on a new assignment.
- For R069, the assignment will not change and will not specify a product. Students will need to base R069 on the business proposal they have developed from the R068 assignment they have completed
I cannot find the dates for submitting student’s marks, only making entries. Can you tell me the dates please?
There are two series in January and June of each year. Marks for non-examined assessed work (NEA) are submitted on 10 January for the January series and 15 May for June series. You can find key dates and timetables here.
FAQs for R067: Enterprise and marketing concepts
When would past exam papers for R067 be available (for mocks)?
A practice question paper and mark scheme is available on Teach Cambridge. You can find the paper under Assessment>Exams>Practice materials.
The first exam will be available to be sat in January of 2024. The paper will be available on the Teach Cambridge website within a few days of the exam being sat. The exam paper will be added to Exam Builder at a later date.
Mark schemes become available after results are released.
How many times can students sit the R067 exam?
Students can sit the exam, R067 (Enterprise and marketing concepts), twice if you wish. They can have a practice attempt and then another once the centre assessed units are complete. The result from the latest sitting will be used when calculating their final grade.
The other two units are centre-assessed, and students can resit each NEA assignment once.
See Section 7.7 of the Specification for further details about unit and qualification resits.
FAQs for R068: Design a business proposal
Can students use online platforms such as Survey Monkey or MS/Google Forms for their questionnaires for R068?
Yes, as long as they have composed the questions and types of questions and response options themselves and not used a shared template. This is an authentic way to conduct research. A questionnaire is only one of the primary market research tools required so another is also needed.
Can students use graphs and charts produced by online platforms such as Survey Monkey or MS/Google Forms to present their results for R068?
Yes! The aim is not to test students on their ability to take raw data and put into excel and then make graphs. Google forms and survey monkey etc do the graphs automatically. It is up to the candidate to decide which graphs are appropriate (a pie chart showing 100% is not needed for example) and then to analyse them.
FAQs for R069: Market and pitch a business proposal
Can R069 be submitted in the same year as R068?
Yes, you can submit both units in the same year or submit R068 in the first year and R069 in the second year of the course, as long as both assignments are based on the same business proposal.
If we decide to resubmit R068 after students completed R069, do students have to complete R069 again?
No, if your students are resubmitting R068 after they have completed R069, there is no requirement to complete R069 again.
Remember, if you are resubmitting R068 in a different academic year, the new R068 task for that year will be required. However, there is no requirement to also complete R069 again based on the new R068 proposal.
If students have started but not completed R069 and we decide to resubmit R068 on a new task, do they need to restart R069?
No, there is no requirement to restart R069 based on the new R068 proposal.
For Unit R069 – Task 4 (Pitch your business proposal to an audience), can the panel be made up of their peers?
No, the panel needs to be independent for this task. Peers should form the audience for the practice pitch (Task 3).
At least two people need to be on the panel for Task 4, and the class teacher can be one of them, but does not have to be. Panel members may include external commercial contacts, School Leadership Team (SLT), governors, other teachers or teaching assistants.
If the class teacher is not one of the panel, they should still supervise the pitch and discuss feedback and judgements with the other witness(es) in order to complete The Teacher Observation Record.
