AS and A Level Art and Design: Component 01 for Summer 2022

For summer 2022 Ofqual have confirmed that students taking Art & Design will be assessed only on the Component 01, resulting in the removal of Component 02 – Externally set task.

The course structure has been reduced from a two-component to a single component, resulting in the assessment being focused on Component 01 only, and the removal of Component 02 – Externally set task.

• Candidates only complete Component 01.
• Removal of Component 02– Externally set task 10 at GCSE/AS or 15 hour at A Level supervised time period.
• No pre-release material will be published for summer 2022 - Component 02 – Externally set task.
• Entirely Portfolio evidence – internally assessed and externally moderated.

For 2021/22, we are exploring a return to visiting moderation if possible, and if centres and moderators support this approach. We will share more information with you as soon as we can. In the meantime, and given that there is potential for further disruption, we advise you and candidates to gather digital evidence for their 2022 cohorts.
