If you missed our Managing Results and Appeals training session for Cambridge Technicals, you can watch a recording. We've also summarised the results arrangements in our blog which you may wish to share with others.
What's available when?
Cambridge Technicals results for both 2012 and 2016 suites will be issued to centres at 12.01am on 9 August (the same time as A Levels) via Interchange and EDI.
However, unlike A Levels, there’s no ‘embargo’ on these results and you can give them to students as soon as they’re published.
Please remember that results must remain confidential until we issue them so you can’t give students the final teacher assessed grades you submitted to us.
Due to the nature of the arrangements this summer, we are not releasing any unit results. We are only issuing full qualification results for Cambridge Technicals. Please be aware we won’t be publishing grade boundaries, examiners' reports or mark schemes this year.
Basedata and EDI results files
If you made EDI entries or included the UCI when you made entries via Interchange, we'll be issuing results via A2C just after midnight on 9 August. You’ll receive one file containing 2012 suite qualification grades and one file containing 2016 suite qualification grades.
If you made your qualification entries in the previous year, please make sure you've downloaded the current year's basedata:
If you’re a SIMS user and want to import your qualification results into the summer season, we produce specific ‘summer’ basedata to enable you to do this. Instructions on an extra step needed to amend your results files before importing are on our website.
You don’t need to use this though – results will import into the September series without this – it’s an optional download.
If you need help with refreshing your basedata, Capita SIMS have put together a handy YouTube video to show you how:
New for 2021: Candidate achievement report
We’ll have a new Interchange results report this year that allows you to view and download your students’ qualification results. The candidate achievement report replaces the candidate unit achievement report and will be available for both the 2012 and 2016 suites.
This is something we know you’ve been asking for so we're delighted it will be available for your results this year.
What will the report show?
The report shows the latest qualification grade achieved and the unit results from a selected date range or series – although there won’t be any unit results this summer. You can generate it for individual candidates or the whole cohort. You can also choose whether to produce it as a PDF – for example if you want to use it as a results slip – or as a CSV file.
Accessing the report
Log in to Interchange, hover over ‘Cambridge Technicals’ and click on ‘Results documents’ in the left-hand menu. If you offer our other general qualifications, to make it easier for you, you can also access the report from the GCSE and A Level results reports page (Results>Results documents).
Generating reports for this summer's results
To generate a report showing your full qualification results for summer 2021, you can select 'Series' and then 'June 2021' from the dropdown.
If your students completed assessments this year and you would like the units to be included on the report, enter the date range of when the units were achieved.
How June 2020 examined units will be shown
As there were no exams in June 2020, if your candidates have results from June 2020 (as they were completing a smaller Cambridge Technical in June 2020), we’ve replaced the marks with the following scales, which relate to the centre assessment grades (CAGs) achieved.
For Level 3 Technicals:
- = R (near pass)
- = Pass
- = Merit
- = Distinction
For Level 2 Technicals:
- = Achieved/Pass
- = Merit
- = Distinction
How January 2020 or January 2021 examined units will be shown
For exams taken in January 2020 or January 2021, the raw mark will be displayed as usual.
If you haven't received an EDI result, you may find it useful to check the following:
- Does the candidate have a UCI? – Please check to see if there is a result in Interchange first. If there is and you can see that the unique candidate identifier (UCI) was not provided, please email email@example.com with the candidate name, OCR candidate number (8 digit), centre candidate number (4 digit) and UCI. This can be for both the 2012 and 2016 suite. We can then add the UCI and send an updated EDI file to you.
- Did you submit a teacher assessed grade? – If there is not a result available in Interchange, you may not have submitted a teacher assessed grade. Please get in touch with our Customer Support Centre on 01223 553998 for guidance.
If you do have a missing or incomplete result, please email us at firstname.lastname@example.org or call us on 01223 553998.
Replacement EDI files
If you need a replacement EDI file for any reason, please email us at email@example.com. Please be aware, it can take up to three working days to process these requests at peak times!
For the summer 2021 results, standard post-results services will not be available. Instead, there will be a new appeals process. JCQ has published detailed guidance on their website including a guide to the appeals process, detailed appendices and dedicated appeals FAQs. Please read these carefully before carrying out or submitting appeals.
Submitting grade change requests and appeals to OCR
For OCR, you'll submit your grade change requests and appeals to us via Interchange. You'll need the Centre Administrator role to view the 'Appeals 2021' menu item. If you need other staff to be able to submit appeals, they will also need Centre Administrator access – please complete and return a new Interchange Agreement. For guidance how to prepare your evidence and how to submit grade change requests and appeals, please see the updated Appeals 2021 page of the OCR website.
If you need a copy of the grades you submitted from the OCR Grade Submission System, you can download the 'Centre grade report' from the centre dashboard (see the OCR website for details of how to access the system). Please do this by 9 September as we need to archive the data after this date.
Next assessment arrangements
Moderated units will be available on-demand from autumn 2021 and we will confirm when moderation will start as soon as we can.
Examined units will be available in the January 2022 series (see the timetable on the OCR website). There will be no Cambridge Technicals examinations in autumn 2021.
