Centres do not have to write assignment briefs, but we do recommend it. Although it is possible to use the grading criteria grid as a structure for assessment, an assignment brief gives students a context/situation to apply their knowledge and understanding of the unit to.
In Section 8 of the Handbook we provide guidance on designing assignments for internal assessment and how to get these checked using our assignment checking service. We do provide model assignments for mandatory units, and some optional units. These can be used as they are, modified to suit your local area or used as a guide to help you to design your own assignments.
