Please see here for the latest information for students completing in summer 2021 and teacher assessed grades (TAGs)
To help support you during 2020/21, we are changing the controls for the moderated unit (R013) so that the same assignment can be used in any series this year.
We have anticipated that following the advice from Public Health England and/or in the event of further disruption in teaching and learning, it will take longer to prepare and take the assessment.
We hope this removes the pressure that you would have to start a new assignment if you miss the submission deadline for a specific series.
Frequently Asked Questions
We are due to complete the qualification in 2020/21, which assignment can be submitted in the January 2021 and June 2021 series?
The Progress Creative Cakes assignment currently available on our website can be submitted in January 2021 and June 2021.
We complete R013 in the first year of the course and will be submitting in June 2021, can we use the Progress Creative Cakes assignment?
Yes, the use of Progress Creative Cakes is not limited to students completing this year. All students submitting unit R013 in 2020/21 should use Progress Creative Cakes.
Will you be releasing another assignment for June 2021 on 1 December as planned?
No, we are making the current assignment available for submission in any series during 2020/21 so you do not have to prepare for a new assignment.
We have already submitted the current assignment for November 2020/are planning to submit the assignment in January 2021, what if the student wants to resubmit the unit in June 2021?
For 2020/21 only, you are permitted to submit the same assignment again in June 2021. As this is a change from what is stated in the centre handbook that says a new task must be taken, you must follow the guidance in the handbook section 3.8 that says:
- You must set a realistic date for the resubmission of work.
- The reasons why a student has been allowed to resubmit must be recorded in your assessment decision records (which would be available to us on request).
- You must also follow our guidelines on giving feedback and record the feedback given to the student on the original work. Our guidelines say any feedback given to students, on the original (marked) evidence, must only be generic and must be recorded and available to the moderator.
When giving feedback to students, we do not annotate the original work (as we mark electronically or use another method to record feedback). How do we make this available to the moderator?
If you do not routinely annotate the work that is to be submitted, you can supply the feedback given to students on a separate document and include this with your submission.
Do we need to tell you if we are resubmitting the same assignment in June 2021?
The Unit Recording Sheet (URS) asks you to record if it is a resit. Please ensure you tick the box on the URS confirming it is a resubmission and include the series the unit was originally submitted in.
The Progress Creative Cakes assignment has ‘for use up to the end of January 2021’ on the front, is this the right assignment?
Yes, we will be updating the date on the front of the assignment shortly.
Does the recent guidance that work for Cambridge Nationals can be completed away from the centre apply to R013?
Yes, R013 is included in the guidance that work can be completed away from the centre in 2020/21.
