Ofqual have now to published their decisions following their consultation on the proposed changes to the assessment of GCSEs, AS and A Levels in 2021.
For GCSE, the requirements have changed for the practical activities only. They are as follows:
- If students are unable to carry out practical science activities, they are permitted to observe a demonstration and/or simulation carried out by a teacher or remotely (e.g. by watching a demonstration online or a video) to cover the skills and apparatus required by the PAGs.
- Centres are still required to submit a Head of Centre Declaration Form.
- There is no change to the assessment. 15% of the marks on the exam papers will still test the skills and apparatus covered by the PAGs.
