Which qualifications does this apply to?
This applies to all Cambridge Nationals and all Cambridge Technicals. It also includes other vocational qualifications, such as our Functional Skills (FS), although the process for awarding grades for Functional Skills may differ slightly from Cambridge Nationals and Cambridge Technicals.
Which students does this apply to?
Students who would have expected to have completed their assessments and/or certificates between March and the end of July 2020. It could include some students being assessed on modules in the first year of a two-year course.
How will the process work?
The process for Nationals and Technicals will use calculated grades and available data, which is the same as for GCSEs and A Levels.
This will be partly based on your teacher’s judgement of what grade you would most likely have achieved if you had been able to complete your assessments this summer. This is likely to be combined with a range of other evidence held by the school, college or training provider and/or by us, as the awarding organisation.
What type of evidence will they use?
They will use a range of evidence held by your school, college or training provider. The evidence will depend on the structure of the qualification.
Do I still need to finish any incomplete Cambridge National and Cambridge Technical NEA/Coursework now?
No. Please do not complete any NEA/coursework.
What evidence will OCR use?
We will use any centre assessed judgement, combined with other relevant information, to determine the most appropriate calculated result.
What does OCR do with the information you get from my school or college?
We are still discussing the process for generating your final calculated results with Ofqual.
Can I appeal my results?
Ofqual is considering whether additional guidance on appeals is needed to take account of the current exceptional circumstances.
If I don’t like their results, can I complete an assessment afterwards?
If you do not feel your result this summer reflects your ability, you will be able to complete an assessment at the next available opportunity.
