The text chosen for Task 1 does not need to be thematically linked to the two texts chosen for Task 2. Some centres choose to have a thematic link between to make the independent research element more directed but it is certainly not a requirement. The only thing is that across the folder there should be a drama, prose and poetic text, one of which should be published post-2000.
