LO2 in unit R115 requires candidates to interpret results obtained from system operation data and to make recommendations for modifications or corrections to system operation. Please refer to the additional guidance provided in Appendix B of the Specification Handbook under Assessment Guidance.
Candidates are required to independently interrogate a system (either HMI or expert system – but not both), interpret the data obtained and make suggestions for corrective actions. Where access to a system is unavailable, the centre could provide candidates with a set of data to interpret.
Example systems that could be interrogated include machine tools that record performance and fault data, or automotive systems using an on-board diagnostics (OBD) reader. Alternatives are possible.
