Are you replacing the current Cambridge National Award (60 GLH) qualifications?
No, we are not replacing the Award qualifications. There is one qualification for each subject in the redeveloped suite, the same size as the current Certificate (120 GLH).
Why are you not replacing the Awards?
Qualifications with less than 120 guided learning hours (GLH) no longer contribute to performance tables and the Awards are no longer used extensively in centres.
In addition, the requirements to have a terminal exam and an increased focus on synopticity means it is very difficult to build a smaller qualification that would still enable cross teaching (as with the current Awards/Certificates).
