With the approval of the DfE, we are allowing the number of assessments of Cambridge Nationals and Cambridge Technicals moderated units to be reduced in 2021/22 where disruption to teaching and learning has been so great that it is necessary. See our FAQs for more details:
Please note this adaptation is only available in 2021/22. It is expected all units planned for 2022/23 are taught and assessed as normal.
Cambridge Nationals entry arrangements
In order to tell us which Cambridge Nationals units you are planning on reducing, it depends on when your students are completing their course (certificating):
- Students certificating in June 2022 – Please make unit entries in the June 2022 series for those units you are planning on reducing. You will also need to make a certification entry. See the entry codes booklet for details.
- Students certificating after June 2022 – Do not make your unit entries now for those units you are planning on reducing. You will need to make these unit entries in the series of certification.
Please make unit entries as normal, in the relevant series, for any units being assessed.
Cambridge Technicals entry arrangements
For Cambridge Technicals, please make sure you have made qualification entries for the qualification the student is currently working towards to allow them to achieve qualification results in summer 2022 and beyond.
Telling us about the assessments you are planning on reducing
For both Cambridge Nationals and Cambridge Technicals, in order for us to determine your students’ overall results, we will be asking you to tell us which units and candidates you want to reduce the assessments for after Easter. This will be done via Interchange, more details can be found in our article 'Requesting a reduction in assessment for Cambridge Nationals and Cambridge Technicals'
Do we have to apply the same reduction in assessment for all our students in the year-group?
No, the unit where assessment is not taken can vary between students. You may also choose not to use the reduction in assessment for some students if it is not needed.
