To support you, we have updated the Cambridge Technicals Progress Tracker. It’s now easier for you to:
- Identify students at risk of not receiving a qualification result
- Track the progress of students’ unit achievements
- Complete ‘eligibility checks’ for students expecting a qualification result.
We’ve summarised the new features below:
- Qualification result status
- Candidates at risk area
- Running total of guided learning hours (GLH)
- Qualification result no longer expected in Summer 2024
- Why a student is showing as 'Not eligible'
Guidance on resolving students showing as 'Not eligible' in the tracker is available on the OCR website.
Qualification result status
We have given each student one of the following qualification result statuses. These show whether a student is on track to receive their result and whether any action is required:
|
Cambridge Technicals qualifications with pathways
Some Cambridge Technicals qualifications have specialist pathways and students must have a valid combination of units to achieve the pathway. The qualification entry you make doesn’t tell us which pathway has been selected. This means any issues with a student’s combination of units can’t be highlighted in the Progress Tracker. Take a look at our FAQ for a list of qualifications that contain mandatory pathways.
Candidates at risk area
We have created a new ‘Candidates at risk’ area. Click on the ‘Candidates at risk’ tab or the button in the warning message to view all students at risk of not receiving a qualification result in Summer 2024.
- Only students with an estimated completion date of ‘Summer 2024’ are included in the ‘Candidates at risk’ view
- If no ‘Summer 2024’ students have been identified as currently being at risk, a warning message will not show and the ‘Candidates at risk’ view will be unavailable (‘greyed out’)
One of our students completed some units at a different centre, what qualification result status will show on the Progress Tracker?
The Progress Tracker will only show units achieved under your centre number. If some units have been completed at another centre before the qualification entry (registration) was transferred to your centre, the student will be flagged as 'at risk' with a status of 'Not eligible' until they achieve the qualification. It is important to check these students carefully to make sure they have enough units to achieve the qualification.
Many of our Summer 2024 students are showing as 'Not eligible' in the Progress Tracker. Is this expected?
If you have a moderation visit/virtual visit scheduled and the visit is more than two weeks away, it is likely that you have not yet submitted your moderation claims for these students. If you know you still have claims to make before a visit/virtual visit, this is expected. Claims must be submitted two weeks in advance of the visit.
Once you have made your final claims, make sure there are no students with an estimated completion date of Summer 2024 still showing as ‘Not Eligible’ within the Tracker.
Running total of guided learning hours (GLH)
In the ‘Result summary view’ and ‘Candidates at risk’ view you will now see the total GLH required for the qualification and a running total of the GLH already achieved or in progress for each student.
Qualification result no longer expected in Summer 2024
You may have students with a ‘Not Eligible’ result status who are no longer expecting a qualification result this summer:

How to use the Progress Tracker to support your checks
This is an example of how you can use the Progress Tracker to support your checks:
The main reason why a student is highlighted as 'Not eligible' can be found in the 'Candidates at risk' view. If there is more than one reason, these can be viewed by hovering over the 'Not eligible' icon. In this example, the main reason given is they’re missing at least one mandatory unit.
By clicking on the student’s name, you can view a list of the units:
In this example, you can see that a mandatory unit is missing:
This is a moderated unit and there’s no unit status. So you need to check:
- Is a claim due to be submitted for a forthcoming moderation visit?
- Were they missed from a claim that has already been submitted and has the visit taken place?
- Do I need OCR to investigate any issues?
Why a student is showing as 'Not eligible'
Reason | |
Mandatory unit not yet achieved
|
At least one mandatory unit is missing
|
Absent from mandatory examined unit | Candidate absent from at least one mandatory examined unit |
Not enough guided learning hours (GLH) | GLH achieved or in progress is less than the total GLH required for the qualification |
No activity | No unit achievements, unit claims or examined unit entries |
Guidance on resolving issues with students showing as 'Not eligible' in the tracker is available on the OCR website.
User Roles
The Progress Tracker has been designed to allow teachers to complete eligibility checks for their own subject. However, there are certain functions that users with the My Cambridge 'Teacher' role cannot complete using the tracker:
- Changing estimated completion dates requires the 'Exams Officer' role
- Asking OCR to withdraw a student using the tracker requires the 'Exams Officer' role
- Acknowledging a result is no longer expected in the 'Candidates at risk' view requires the 'Exams Officer' role
FAQs for exams officers can be found in our Exams Officers area.
