The Department for Education (DfE) produces and publishes the latest information on new performance measures.
Our Level 3 Free Standing Maths Qualification (FMSQ) Additional Maths (6993) can count towards Progress 8 and the new points scores for Free Standing Maths Qualifications are included on page 56 of the above document.
Please note: the document states on page 22 that “Level 3 Free Standing Mathematics Qualifications will only count in a slot in the ‘open’ element, and will only count if a pupil has not taken an EBacc mathematics qualification”. Therefore, a candidate's result will only be included towards Attainment 8 or Progress 8 when the student has not taken GCSE or AS Level Maths.
Although this means that, for most students, FSMQs are unlikely to be considered towards school performance tables under the new performance measures, the benefit of studying the Additional Maths (6993) qualification should be seen in elevated student GCSE Maths performance (which is double weighted in the Progress 8 measure), in addition to the students' preparation for AS or A Level Maths.
