The FSMQ is intended as an enrichment programme for high-achieving students studying GCSE (9–1) Mathematics. The exam questions in FSMQ are more challenging than those found in GCSE, reflecting its Level 3 qualification status.
The content within FSMQ builds on and extends the mathematical knowledge and skills developed at GCSE, placing greater emphasis on mathematical reasoning, problem solving, and modelling. This prepares students for further post-16 study, as well as supporting their future life and career opportunities.
